Pierangelo Savarese
He studied theatre and languages at Rome University, with two thesis, one about actor’s training in laboratory tradition, and one in Chinese language and culture, specializing on traditional theatre. He made various stays in China, holding workshops at Beijing Central Academy of Drama and Shanghay Theatre Academy. He has led several international projects at various international universities.
He was assistant director for Eugenio Barba for several performances and projects by Odin Teatret, working as well as “director in residence” at Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium and freelance director. He founded in 2008 the international group Altamira Studio Teater, which has realized performances presented in several countries. For Holstebro Festival Week 2014 he directed the opening performance and the intercultural ceremony The Empty Chair. Beside his performances, he develops a wide range of theatrical activities in the local communities, with site-specific performances, social and pedagogical projects. Recently he has been collaborating with Aalborg University (artist-in-residence and scientific assistant) publishing articles on magazines and books, about theatre, creativity, embodied learning and China. From 2020, he is responsible for the theatrical teaching at Højskolen Mors.
